Trial licence — request and delivery
Five steps, and the licence never touches a public page.
The public site takes a request. Everything after that happens behind a verified account, because a signed entitlement document naming your organisation is not something to leave on a marketing page.

Four things, all of which the licence is bound to. Nothing is downloadable from this page.
Legal entity
The registered name, exactly as it appears on the registration below.
Company registration number
One trial per entity, ever — and this is what that is counted on, rather than a name or an address. It is also the reference the issued licence carries.
Technical owner, at that entity's domain
A named person who will install it. Consumer mail domains are refused with a reason rather than silently.
Daily volume you expect to ingest
GB per day, across as many machines as you like
This is the only ceiling. Put the agent on everything — it is the volume that is bounded, not the machine count, and it is the same unit a quote would later use. An estimate is fine; one upward amendment is self-serve.

A request is not an approval. If the entity already holds a trial, or the domain does not match the entity, the answer arrives by email with the reason named — not a blank refusal.
Step two · verification

We sent a single-use link that expires in fifteen minutes. Following it proves two things at once: that the address exists, and that whoever asked can receive mail at the entity's own domain.
That second point is the whole reason the domain has to match. A licence names a legal entity, so there has to be somebody at that entity on the other end of it.

Wrong address? Correct it and we will re-send. Note that a different address does not produce a different trial — the entity is what holds the one, and the register is keyed on the registration number rather than the mailbox.
What the link does not do
It does not carry the licence, and it never will. It signs you into an account that has one thing waiting in it. Mail is not a delivery channel for signed material — it forwards, it archives, and it lands in shared inboxes.
Step three · the account
Verified. Add a passkey before you take delivery.
The request created an account for the duration of the trial and a little beyond it. It exists to hold three things: your licence status, the amendment control, and the re-issue path. It is not a portal you have to learn.
Passkey for the technical owner
Required before the download link is generated. Only the owner can burn that link, amend the volume, or ask for a re-issue.
Colleagues at the same verified domain
Read-only. They see the term, the volume and the status; they cannot take delivery or change anything. Ownership transfers on request, to a person, not to a shared mailbox.
Why an account at all
Because the alternative is worse. Emailing the file gives you no status view, no amendment path, and no way to kill a copy that leaked. One authenticated place makes revocation a button instead of a phone call — which is what actually protects the document.

Read this before you click
The link is single-use and expires in fifteen minutes. We cannot show the file again — not as a policy, but because it is not kept anywhere it could be shown from. If you lose it, the recovery path is a re-issue, which revokes this serial first. That is also what makes a leaked copy fixable: only one serial is ever live for your entity.

Download the self-hosted package whenever you like, from anywhere, as often as you like. It is inert without a licence, so putting a door in front of it protects nothing and slows down the evaluation this exists to enable.

At first start the deployment registers the serial against your entity once, then never contacts us again. It records an issue; it does not gate enforcement, and an offline estate can be activated out of band.

If you reach the ceiling
Ingest pauses for the rest of that day and resumes the next, and the refusal appears in your own audit as a named denial rather than a silent drop. The trial keeps running. One upward amendment is yours to make without asking.
Lost the file, or it went somewhere it should not have
Re-issue. The current serial is revoked in the same action and a fresh single-use link is generated, so a copy that leaked stops being the live licence. There is no path that leaves two serials valid at once.
When the term ends
Enforcement and ingest keep running. Your obligations plane keeps running. After the grace window, forward motion stops — new authoring, the reporting surfaces, feed freshness and support. Nothing is deleted and nothing bricks.

Approaching the ceiling repeatedly is the honest moment to talk about a purchase or a paid pilot. There is no second trial, and this page will say so rather than offering one.
What stops this being abused
Including abuse by the person who legitimately received it, which is the case most schemes ignore. None of these depend on the recipient's goodwill.
One live serial per entity
Re-issuing revokes the previous one. A leaked document can always be turned into a dead document.
The document names its holder
Signed, so it cannot be edited into somebody else's name, and use outside the named entity is visible and contractual.
Never re-displayed
Single-use link, short expiry, and no copy kept on our side that a support call could talk somebody into re-sending.
The register is keyed on the entity
Not on the mailbox, so a second address at the same company produces a refusal with a reason, not a second trial.
The ceiling bounds the value
A shared licence does not multiply capacity — everyone using it draws on one daily volume, and it runs out faster.
Delivery is authenticated, the package is not
Friction sits on the thing that carries authority. The software, which carries none, stays open.
Deliberately not done
No machine fingerprinting — re-imaging and autoscaling break it, and support pays for that daily. No heartbeat or phone-home enforcement — self-hosted exists for estates that cannot depend on our control plane, and a platform that stops defending when a network path fails is worse than the abuse it prevents. No hardware dongle, no per-seat activation, and no licence material anywhere on the public site.
